Coloring Night Date Change

Adult Coloring Night will not be on the third Thursday this month, instead it will be on May 24th!

For our regulars, we are sorry for the inconvenience.

For our newbies, here’s an extra week to get the date right!

But why the change, you may ask? Two of our librarians, Sue and Nichole, will be adventuring off into the heart of the Land of Lincoln, Springfield, IL, for a conference on Autism. Be sure to check back on how their trip went!

And make sure to come by the Library on the 24th from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. for Adult Coloring Night! Join the community in taking the time to read a little, relax a bit, and recolor your life. As always, coloring books and pencils are provided (so are coffee and cookies).

We hope to see you there!

If you have any questions, stop by or give us a call at 476-1887

MayFest is coming fast!

Don't forget, this Saturday, open-house-style from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. we're doing medieval crafts! (Also making something special for mom if anyone so chooses to do so.)

To get ready for MayFest, here's a Simplified Heraldry Handbook we put together. Of course there's plenty more heraldry information out there, but this is a good place to start.

For more information, check out the resources from the Library System, on heraldry and the middle ages.

We hope to see you there!

(All of the heraldry information we provided can be found at these websites)

Hear Ye, Hear Ye! MayFest is upon us!

MayFestCometh to the Millstadt Library to celebrate spring at MayFest! Joineth us May 12th, the Saturday before Mother’s Day, open-house-style, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. to forge your own shield, crown, and a flower for the fair maiden in your life (or for thyself). All art welcome to partake in the revelry.

MayFest or Maifest is a traditional German holiday that celebrates the end of the long, dark Winter and the coming of warm weather and sunshine. (For more information, check out this site.)

We're kicking off the arrival of Spring with a medieval flair.  Children of all ages (accompanied by an adult) are encouraged to decorate their own crown and shield. We'll have some resources available to help everyone understand shield heraldry for those who want a more authentic piece. Like all of our events, this is an open-house-style, so come anytime between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. and make what you want and leave when you want. It's that easy.

As our MayFest is held the Saturday before Mother's Day, we're also going to be making some flowers for children to gift to Mom, themselves, or anyone else important in their life.

As per usual, if you have any questions, feel free to contact us at 476-1887, message us on Facebook, or stop by at 115W. Laurel.

We shall await thy arrival!
