Adult Coloring Night

The Library is planning for its second Adult Coloring Night on April 19th.    All are invited to come and share a good time.  We will have everything you need to create a beautiful work of art.  We now will have bookmarks to color if you do not think you can do a full page.  To be truthful last month I think we got more visiting done the coloring.  We will start again at 5:00 and end around 7:30.  Charlie Flemming will be there again to show us what he did with the list of names we gave him last month.

If you do not want to color you can still come for the company and coffee and cookies.

If you can not make it this time, remember we will be doing it every third Thursday of the month.  Hope to see some new faces and welcome back some regular artist.

Adult Coloring Night

This Thursday, March 22, 2018, the Library is having an Adult Coloring Night.  We will supply all the material necessary for you to create a work of art.

The Coloring Night will be held at the Library, 115 W. Laurel St., starting at 5:00 and ending around 7:00.  It will be an open house format so you can come and go when ever your schedule allows.

An local artist, Charlie Flemming, will be here at 6:00 to show some of his work.  He takes a name, first or last,  and turns it into a piece of art.  He is willing to take a name, only one per person per month, take it home and bring it back the next month for you to color.

There is no cost involved.  All are welcome.

So come and have a cup of coffee and a cookie and create a lasting reminder.

20th Year

Our spring Preschool Reading Program is here and the Library is buzzing with giggles and activities.  The reading program is in its 20th year and still going strong.  Held every Wednesday in March at 10:00, at the library 115 West Laurel St., for children ages 2-5.  This low-key, casual program is open to all children and last about 45 minutes.  We read stories, do simple crafts and have a good time.  Because it is held when the library is closed we do not have to be concerned about noise or space.  We take over the complete library and enjoy ourselves.

All are invited and are welcome.  An adult must stay with the child to keep them comfortable.  Stuffed animals and favorite blankets are also welcome.

There is no cost or registration.

If you have any question please call the library at 476-1887.  Our hours are  12-8 Monday - Thursday and 10-2 Friday and Saturday

Vacation Toiletries Drop-Off Site

The Millstadt Library would like to offer a helping hand to those in need.web 1

But we can’t do it alone, we need your help too.

You know when you go on vacation and they have those complimentary little toiletries, like small bottles of shampoo or conditioner, even disposable razors or sample size boxes of tissues and for some reason you can’t help yourself but bring them all home and have nothing to do with them but stuff your bathroom drawers full of your new collection? We have just the solution.

We at the Millstadt Library have become aware that you can do something useful with these little, travel-sized toiletries and are offering our location as a drop-off site for these items.

We are connected with a representative of a local organization that takes these donated items every Wednesday and delivers them to those in need.

Just getting a bag of soap, shampoo, and other toiletries, the things we often take for granted, could help change someone’s day, perspective, or even more. And all you have to do is round up those little bottles of toiletries to help out.

So, if you plan on travelling this year, for work or fun, far or near, please pick up those hotel, motel toiletries and bring them on up to the Library. We’ll do the rest.

Additionally, any small or travel-sized toiletries you would like to donate are appreciated as well.

We’ll be collecting these items all year.

We’re open Monday-Thursday 12-8 and Friday-Saturday 10-2. For more information, feel free to call us at 476-1887 or stop by at 115 W. Laurel.

Thank you very much!

Holiday Open House

The Library had it's first Annual Holiday Open House and it was a total success with 78 people in attendance and 25 new cards issued.  The cookies and hot chocolate hit the spot and the drawings and attendance prizes had people leaving with smiles on their faces.  The Open House put a lot of people in the Christmas mood.

We would again like to thank the Millstadt IGA and Breadeaux for sponsoring, in part, the drawings for $25.oo gift cards.  The business  in Millstadt are truly wonderful.  They support of the organizations in the Village and the people calling Millstadt their home.  Please support them in return.

Success

Boy can we throw a party.  The Eclipse Party, held at the Library was a total success.  We had a little over 200 people and we are pretty sure they had a good time.  The weather was perfect, no clouds, and the Eclipse was everything that it was supposed to be.  When Mother Nature puts on a show she does it up right. Many thanks to the Lauko Family for donating the snow cones and popcorn and the Senior Center for donating the Moon Pies.

Next eclipse in 2024.  Save the date.
