Summer Reading is Here!

Social Media Summer Reading Announcment (1)Summer Reading July 6 – August 15

We're changing up our Summer Reading Program this year. We want everyone to have a chance to do some reading this summer! Running from July 6 to August 15, three groups will be able to participate; Children: (Pre-K - 5th), Teens/YA (6th - 12th), and Adults (18+).

Instead of earning an entry for each book, pages will be counted to earn a ticket; Children: 50 pages = 1 book; Teens/YA: 200 pages =1 book; Adults: 250 pages = 1 book.

There will be prize drawings every week for each group. For participating, you get one ticket. For each book read, you get an extra ticket put into the weekly prize drawing, as well as the grand prize drawing. Participating in weekly challenges posted on our Facebook (@MillstadtLibrary) and on our Instagram (@millstadt_library) will earn you extra entries.

Reading logs for each group will be available digitally as a Google Form on our website,,  and available physically at the library. Return them every Saturday and we will draw our winners the following Monday. Winners will be called to discuss prize delivery.

What are these prizes? This year, we will be giving out gift cards to Millstadt businesses, like Ott’s and Happy Days, and to local businesses, like Barnes & Noble and Walmart. In addition, the grand prizes will feature Movie Nights hosted here at the library (following COVID-19 social distancing rules).

  • Coffee Mill Café
  • Happy Days
  • IGA
  • Lee's Hardware

Please click on the links to access the Google Form version for the daily record. There is also a Word Document version of the physical weekly copy available, if you would like to print off your own copy - or stop by the library during Summer Reading to pick up a log and a welcome bag!

Open for Curbside, Limited Hours

Ready for some good news?

The Millstadt Library is open… well, sort of.

Since the State of Illinois has been under a Shelter in Place, the library had no choice but to close. Under Phase 3 of Restore Illinois, the library is allowed to open with some serious guidelines.

Starting June 1, the library will be offering Curbside pickup for materials. We will not be open for the public, so patrons will need to order items either through “Your Account.” Here, you can search for your item. Be sure to “Limit By” “Your Library” as only items from the Millstadt Library will be available for check-out. When you request an item, login with

Username: Barcode

Password: Last 4 digits of your phone number

This will alert our system; we will check out your items and call you when they are ready for pickup. Simply drive to the library and give us a call when you’re outside and we will bring it out to you.

Not driving? Let us know and we can set up a Porch Pick-Up with your items outside the library door.

Ordering online not your thing? Give us a call. We’ll help you find something.

Please limit your selections to 10 items per card.

We understand that this is a challenging situation that no one has ever traversed before. We are doing our best to accommodate your needs and will stay fluid with our plans in order to serve you all to the best of our abilities.

Please look at the picture below and this Phase and Curbside How To Brochure for more information on our Curbside services and Phase Guidelines.

Stay tuned to our website and Facebook page for more information.

Please call us at 476-1887, email us, [email protected], or message us on Facebook for questions, comments or concerns.

Our Phase 3 hours are:

M-Th: 12 p.m. – 2 p.m. & 6 p.m. – 8 p.m.

Fri-Sat: 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Sun: Closed

Closure Prolonged

We understand that not having a physical book is a bummer. Trust us, we'd like to have them too. But for right now, it's still safer that we read e-books from home. Therefore, the library will be closed until at least June 1.

Please use our Cloud Library for access to e-books and e-books on audio.

If you do not have a library card but would like access to this resource, please sign-up for a temporary library card.

Both of these links can be found under the Bookmarks section on the right hand side of this page.

Please visit our Online Resources (found in the same place) for access to other free, virtual books, audio books, and activities.

If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, email us at [email protected]

Until then, please take care!
