Programs
The Library hosts a variety of programs. Please scroll down to see information for children's programs and for programs for all ages.
For Children
A Pre-school Reading Program is held every Wednesday in March and October for children ages 2 -5 at 10:00. An adult is required to stay with the child and younger siblings are welcome. The program lasts around 45 minutes and is low key and geared for the young child. Stories are read and a simple craft is done so the child has something to take home. Registration is not required and there is no charge for the program.
For All Ages
Summer Reading Program
Date: Yearly
This Year's Date: July 6, 2020 - August 15, 2020
Time: Weekly
The Summer Reading Program is open to all ages. A log is kept of pages read during the time period of the program and a slip with the reader's name, one for each page category read, is put into a drawing for prizes each week and at the end of the summer.
Running from July 6 to August 15, three groups will be able to participate; Children: (Pre-K - 5th), Teens/YA (6th - 12th), and Adults (18+).
Instead of earning an entry for each book, pages will be counted to earn a ticket; Children: 50 pages = 1 book; Teens/YA: 200 pages =1 book; Adults: 250 pages = 1 book.
There will be prize drawings every week for each group. For participating, you get one ticket. For each book read, you get an extra ticket put into the weekly prize drawing, as well as the grand prize drawing. Participating in weekly challenges posted on our Facebook (@MillstadtLibrary) and on our Instagram (@millstadt_library) will earn you extra entries.
Reading logs for each group will be available digitally as a Google Form on our website, www.millstadt-library.org, and available physically at the library. Return them every Saturday and we will draw our winners the following Monday. Winners will be called to discuss prize delivery.
What are these prizes? This year, we will be giving out gift cards to Millstadt businesses, like Ott’s and Happy Days, and to local businesses, like Barnes & Noble and Walmart. In addition, the grand prizes will feature Movie Nights hosted here at the library (following COVID-19 social distancing rules).
